Rajendra Setu, the lifeline connecting North and South Bihar, has become quite famous these days due to traffic jams. Drivers of four-wheelers and two-wheelers passing through Rajendra Bridge by road, before passing through the bridge, find out what is the condition of Rajendra Bridge and only then proceed towards Begusarai or Patna. Due to Chhath Puja, the movement of vehicles on Rajendra Bridge has increased these days. The repair work of the bridge has been going on by SP Singla Company for the last several months. Due to this, one-way traffic is being operated on Rajendra Bridge. The bridge remains closed due to the ongoing repair work. Even after a long period, the repair work of the roadway of Rajendra Bridge has not been completed, due to which there is anger among the people.
Recently, before the program of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, DM Tushar Singla had also inspected the repair work of Rajendra Bridge. During this time, Railway and SP Singla officials had assured to complete the repair work from March to April. Only after that can operations on Rajendra Bridge become normal. In one-way traffic, traffic jams arise due to overtaking of two-wheelers and four-wheelers. After a jam, due to long queues of vehicles in many lanes, it becomes difficult for the police of one station to clear the jam, due to which a long queue of vehicles is formed.
Due to increase in the number of vehicles coming and overtaking on the occasion of Chhath festival, there was a traffic jam on Rajendra Bridge from Saturday morning till evening. The traffic jam continued till Vata Mod towards Hathidah, whereas towards Simaria the jam situation continued till Malhipur Chowk. Police forces along with Chakia police station chief Neeraj Kumar Chaudhary were busy in clearing the jam, yet they could not completely clear the jam in time. Gradually, with the help of the police force, some success was achieved in clearing the jam. A journey of ten minutes is taking more than 2 hours. People said that due to the traffic jam many people missed their trains. Pedestrians remained worried for hours. Police say that jam occurs due to overtaking and forced entry of the bike.
As soon as the information about the traffic jam was received, the administration deployed police officers and police force and reached Zeromile Golambar and started sending the vehicles going towards Rajendra Bridge from Zeromile Golambar towards Bachhwara. People said that this is the biggest jam ever seen on Rajendra Bridge. There is often a traffic jam of one or two hours. District administration Begusarai and Patna should keep the vehicles in one line for long distances on both ends of Rajendra Bridge. No one should be allowed to overtake. Those who do so will be fined and only then can they be exempted from traffic jams. According to the information, this type of crowd will continue for two-three days.
