Darbhanga Municipal Corporation employees pasted a notice on a house in Gandhinagar Katrahiya locality of Ward No. 17 to remove encroachment from the drain of the locality, which proved costly for the Ward Councilor. The landlord got the ward councilor beaten up by his henchmen. An FIR has also been lodged in Sadar police station regarding the matter.
Chaos after pasting notice to remove encroachment
The incident took place in Gandhinagar Katrahiya locality located in ward number 17 of the city. In the afternoon, a corporation employee had pasted a notice to remove encroachment from the drain on the house of Gandhinagar resident MNREGA worker Vinay Kumar Singh, after which in the evening four-five youths beat up ward councilor Vikas Kumar fiercely. As soon as the corporation councilors and people of the locality came to know about this, they became angry. As soon as information about the incident was received, Deputy Mayor Nazia Hassan reached to meet the victim councilor and inquired about the matter. After this, the victim councilor along with the Deputy Mayor and a dozen councilors of the corporation lodged an FIR in the Sadar police station. In this case, he has accused four-five youths including MNREGA worker Vinay Kumar Singh and his wife Sudha Kumari.

In this matter, Deputy Mayor Nazia Hasan said that public representatives are not safe. Every day, incidents are happening continuously with one or the other councilor and when the matter goes to the police, often the police save the unwanted element by making allegations like the accused being in an inebriated state and many other things. He has accused the police station chief of misbehaving with the councillor.
Police is taking action
People say that after pasting the notice by the corporation, the landlord got a fatal attack by anti-social elements. During this, the accused also used caste based abuses. After receiving the application from the councilor, Sadar police station incharge Amrit Kumar Sah has started investigation. He told that the councilors had come along with Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation Nazia Hasan. The application of the aggrieved councilor has been taken, action is being taken.
