One will have to wait a little to visit the Valmiki Ashram of Valmiki Tiger Reserve in Bettiah, because the district administration has banned anyone from going there. The administration says that the flood water is constantly rising. In such a situation, going there is not free from danger. Keeping in mind the safety of the people, the district administration has banned going there till further orders.
The water levels of the rivers are rising
Due to continuous rain in the hilly areas, the water level of Tamsa River and Sonha River is constantly increasing. Devotees crossing Tamsa River and Sonha River to visit Valmiki Ashram have been stuck twice. Therefore, crossing the river is no longer free from danger. Due to sudden rise in water level in Tamsa River, 69 devotees got stuck in the middle of the river on 12th August, who were rescued by SSB and Nepal APF Police after a lot of effort. Then for the second time on 20th August, 10 devotees got stuck in the middle of the river. SSB jawans rescued them after a lot of effort and took them out of the water. In view of this, the forest administration has taken such a step and has banned two-wheelers, four-wheelers as well as pedestrians from going to Valmiki Ashram.
We will have to wait till the water level becomes normal
The Forest Department has issued a letter and clearly stated that the ban on visiting Balmiki Ashram will remain in force until the water level becomes normal. Along with this, the administration has appealed to all the devotees to follow the order and stop their journey till further orders, so that no untoward incident occurs. At present, we will have to wait for the water level to decrease.
