In Darbhanga, a woman was taking advantage of government schemes by making a fake death certificate of her husband. When the matter came to light, everyone from employees to officers were shocked. The officer immediately registered a case and ordered an FIR against the accused woman. The incident took place in Nazara Mohammada village of Raghopur East Panchayat of Manigachhi block.

According to the information, Ishrat Khatoon, a woman resident of Nazara Mohammedda village of the block area, was illegally availing the benefits of Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme by making a fake death certificate in the name of her husband Mo Taufiq, who was working as a laborer in Mumbai. When this fact came to light during investigation, BDO Anupam Kumar ordered Panchayat Secretary Suresh Yadav to register an FIR against the woman who was taking advantage of it illegally. Also, an order has been given to recover Rs 16,000 taken as pension. Under the scheme, a pension of Rs 400 is available per month.
The then Panchayat Secretary is also coming under suspicion
BDO Anupam Kumar said that this matter pertains to the financial year 2017-18. The then Panchayat Secretary is also coming under suspicion in this matter. He has also been asked for clarification. If they are found to be involved in making fake death certificates, then legal action will be taken against them. It is known that in 2017-18, all the certificates were made manually. BDO said that information was received that Ishrat Khatoon’s husband Mohammad Taufiq is alive and works as a laborer in Mumbai. Ishrat is taking benefit of Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme by making fake death certificate of her husband. In the investigation of availing pension benefits on the basis of wrong documents, it was found that the beneficiary’s husband Mohd Taufiq works as a laborer in Mumbai. Panchayat Secretary has submitted his investigation report to BDO vide his letter no. 3 dated 25/1/24
