Criminals shot a middle-aged man in Patna. After committing the incident the criminals fled on the motorcycle. As soon as information about the firing was received, nearby people reached the spot. In injured condition, the person was admitted to a nearby private nursing home, where the injured person has been referred to PMCH, Patna for better treatment. The incident took place near Loha bridge of Mehndiganj police station area. The injured has been identified as vegetable seller Gopal Mahato (50).
Bullets started raining as soon as the shop was set up
Local people say that like every day, Gopal Mahato was preparing to set up his shop near Loha Pul to sell vegetables on Thursday morning. Then the criminals who came on bike started firing bullets at Gopal Mahato. As soon as the bullet was fired, an atmosphere of stampede was created there. People selling vegetables nearby started running here and there to save their lives. Meanwhile the criminals opened fire on Gopal Mahato. To save himself, Gopal Mahato started running. In this sequence, the criminals shot Gopal Mahato from behind. The bullet hit Gopal Mahato’s back. As soon as he was shot, he fell on the ground. Thinking him dead, the criminals fled from there waving weapons.
Police checking CCTV
On receiving information about the incident, Patna City Police Sub-Divisional Officer and Mehndi Ganj Police Station President reached the spot. Injured Gopal Mahato was admitted to a nearby nursing home, where doctors referred him to PMCH, Patna for better treatment. The police reached the spot and started scanning the CCTV cameras around the spot.
Son was murdered last year
Regarding the incident, Patna City Police Sub-Divisional Officer said that Gopal Mahato is a resident of Western Town and he does business of selling vegetables. Like every day, he was going to open a vegetable shop when criminals shot him. Police sub-divisional officer said that the son of injured Gopal Mehta was murdered a year ago.
