Expansion
The prisoners serving their sentence in the jails of Bihar are now honing their skills and will sell the products made by them for public use. A beginning has been made in this direction today. It has started in five central jails of Bihar from Friday and there is a lot of enthusiasm among the prisoners about it. Mukti Bazaar, an initiative of Bihar government, will become its centre.
In fact, on the instructions of CM Nitish Kumar, the prison system of Bihar is being converted into a center of skill development. Under this, a ‘Mukti Bazaar’ outlet was inaugurated on Friday in five central jails of Bihar for the sale of products manufactured by prisoners. It has been started in Muzaffarpur Shaheed Khudiram Bose Central Jail, which was inaugurated by Tirhut Zone Commissioner Gopal Meena. In this ‘Mukti’ is the brand of Bihar Kara Udyog product. Under this, currently wooden products along with spices and oil are being sold.
Tirhut Zone Commissioner Gopal Meena said that jails are not punishment centers but reform homes and work is being done continuously in this direction. An empty mind is the house of the devil, hence, along with reformation, convicted prisoners are also given training in many tasks. The products made by the prisoners will now be sold through the outlets set up in the Central Jail. He told that not only this but they are being given Rs 156 per day for this. Now the prisoners will also benefit from this and will also be freed from adulteration with the goods made by the prisoners.
