The weather in Bihar was so kind that it put people’s lives at risk. Nine people died in six districts in the last 24 hours due to lightning along with rain. CM Nitish Kumar expressed grief and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the families of those who died.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the sky will remain generally cloudy in Bihar today and there will be rain or thundershowers once or twice. The IMD has predicted light to moderate thunderstorms with lightning and heavy rain in some parts of Saran, Patna, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Jehanabad, Gaya and Nawada districts by Saturday afternoon. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for these districts.
What did CM Nitish say
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed deep condolences on the death of nine people due to lightning in six districts of Bihar in the last 24 hours. The Chief Minister said that he is with the affected families in this hour of disaster. The Chief Minister has given instructions to give ex-gratia grant of Rs. 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
Also, the Chief Minister has appealed to the people to be very cautious during bad weather. Follow the suggestions issued from time to time by the Disaster Management Department to protect yourself from lightning during bad weather. Stay indoors and stay safe during bad weather.
Badra will rain more now
According to weather forecasting agency Skymet, the northern half of Bihar will have more severe activity than the rest of the region. Heavy rains and floods are expected in Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Supaul, Araria, Madhepura, Forbesganj, Kishanganj, Purnia and Darbhanga. Moderate to heavy rains will also be seen in other parts of Bihar. Then it will decrease slightly, as a cyclonic circulation will emerge over the Bay of Bengal around July 7, which may reduce the rains a bit between July 7 and 8. But, heavy rains will start once again from July 9.
Government is on alert for flood
A high-level committee constituted by the central government to find a long-term solution to the recurrent floods in Bihar on Friday met Bihar Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and other senior officials and discussed flood mitigation measures in the state. According to a statement issued by the Water Resources Department (WRD), the five-member committee met the minister and other senior officials of the department and discussed various flood mitigation measures being taken by the Centre in the state.
