The nomination round for the by-election of Tirhut Graduate Constituency has ended and till yesterday evening, a total of 18 candidates have filed nomination forms from this area. Meanwhile, a candidate named Rajesh Roshan died before going to the election campaign. Two women candidates from this area are also trying their luck in the by-elections, as far as this area is concerned, only two candidates had held sway in the last almost four decades. Which includes outgoing Legislative Council member Devesh Chandra Thakur and former Legislative Council member Ramkumar Singh. Now in the current elections, Devesh Chandra Thakur’s nephew Abhishek Jha is contesting from JDU as a candidate supported by the NDA alliance. Apart from this, Dr. Vinayak Gautam, son of former Legislative Council member Ramkumar Singh, is now entering politics for the first time as a candidate of Jan Suraj.
