The entire Bihar is in the grip of cold on the first day of the new year. The cold westerly wind has increased the chill. There was no sunlight in the morning in many districts including Patna, Sitamarhi, Purnia, Araria, Muzaffarpur, Champaran, Darbhanga. The maximum temperature in Patna in the last 24 hours was 19.5 degrees. The minimum temperature has dropped by four degrees in the last 48 hours. Dense fog was seen in many areas. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be cold wave like conditions from January 6. Therefore, be careful about increasing cold.

Highest cold in Saharsa

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in many cities of Bihar has declined in the last 24 hours. The highest maximum temperature of Purnia was 23.5 degrees Celsius. Darbhanga recorded 22.4 degrees, Madhepura 22 degrees, Bhagalpur 21.5 degrees, Khagaria 21.3 degrees and the lowest was 19.5 degrees in Patna. The coldest place was in Saharsa. It was 8.5 degrees Celsius here. After this, the temperature was recorded at 10.2 degrees in Samastipur, 11.6 degrees in Gaya, 11 degrees in Banka, 13.8 degrees in Purnia, 13.7 degrees in Muzaffarpur, 14.2 degrees in Patna and 14.9 degrees Celsius in Gopalganj. According to the weather department, cold will be felt for the next two-three days.

Instructions to prepare shelter in Muzaffarpur

In Muzaffarpur also the weather pattern changed since morning. In view of the increasing cold, the Disaster Management Department has instructed to remain alert. DM said that however there is no cold wave like situation right now. The situation is being monitored. The temperature has decreased now and the temperature may drop further in the coming days. We are fully prepared for this. All preparations have been completed by the district administration for relief from cold. After this the common man has been asked to remain alert.
