Birth Anniversary Kishore Kumar: There have been many great singers in Indian cinema whose singing style was different. One of them was Kishore Kumar who used to sing such amazing songs in a fun way which is often difficult for people. Kishore Kumar was not only a great singer but his acting was also liked and he used to give music to most of his songs himself.

Today, 4th August is the 95th birth anniversary of Kishore Kumar. On this occasion, let us tell you about everything from his bubbly nature to his legacy. Kishore Kumar was a lively person and this was reflected in his songs.

Kishore Kumar’s family background

Born on 4 August 1929 in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, Kishore Kumar’s real name was Abhas Ganguly. He belonged to a Bengali family and had two brothers and a sister. Ashok Kumar was the first star of the film industry and Kishore Kumar came to Mumbai many years after Ashok Kumar came to Mumbai. He was a legendary singer of Hindi cinema who also sang songs in other languages. Apart from film songs, he also sang many bhajans and qawwalis.

Singing career of Kishore Kumar

Ashok Kumar was a big star of that era. He used to do most of the films of Bombay Talkies. When he came to know that there was a need for some boys to sing chorus, he called both his brothers from Khandwa but only Kishore Kumar got the job. Kishore Kumar started his career as a chorus. Initially Kishore Kumar was not serious about his career but later he got interested and then in his entire career he sang thousands of songs.

Kishore Kumar’s unique style

Kishore Kumar sang about 2700 songs in his career for which he himself was the composer. Apart from this, he also sang about a thousand songs for other music directors. He used to sing the song in the mood of the hero as per which mood the song was to be used in the film.

According to media reports, Kishore Kumar had written ‘Kishore se savdhan’ outside his house. He used to have fun with everyone and those who met him were aware that if they went to meet him, anyone could play a joke on them. Apart from this, it is said that he had put a bone and a skull on his car as a joke so that people would get scared and he would have fun.

Kishore Kumar married four times. His first marriage was with Bengali singer and actress Ruma Guha Thakurta. Their marriage lasted from 1950 to 1958. After this, Kishore Kumar came into a relationship with Madhubala and also did many films. In 1960, he had a civil marriage with Madhubala, but Madhubala died about 9 years after the marriage.

Kishore Kumar married Yogita Bali for the third time but this marriage lasted only two years and they too got divorced in 1978. After this, in 1980, Kishore Kumar married actress Leena Chandavarkar and she remained his wife till the end. Kishore Kumar had only two sons, one of whom is Amit Kumar from his first wife and the other is Sumit Kumar from his last wife.

Kishore Kumar passed away

According to media reports, Kishore Kumar wanted to retire by September 1987. He also mentioned this to many close ones and said that he would spend the rest of his life in his birthplace Khandwa. Kishore Kumar’s elder brother Ashok Kumar’s birthday is on 13 October.

His plan was to go to Khandwa after this but fate had something else in store for him. On 13 October 1987 at around 4.30 pm he suffered a heart attack and died as soon as he was taken to the hospital. Later his dead body was taken to Khandwa and the last rites were performed there.
