Aam Aadmi Party has expressed maximum confidence in its own MLAs for the Lok Sabha elections. It has again fielded sitting MLAs on three of the four Lok Sabha seats announced today. Aam Aadmi Party can get the benefit from this that the MLAs can seek votes from the people on the basis of their work. But the way BJP has been changing the electoral equations by changing faces, playing a bet on old faces can also be a losing deal for the Aam Aadmi Party.
Veteran faces of BJP have been in the fray on all the seats announced by Aam Aadmi Party. Cricketer Gautam Gambhir, the current BJP MP from East Delhi, is in a position to make any party win or lose due to his popularity. If BJP once again expresses confidence in Gautam Gambhir, then the fight on this seat may be difficult for Aam Aadmi Party. At the same time, the challenge for Aam Aadmi Party’s East Delhi Lok Sabha seat candidate Kuldeep Kumar can be quite difficult.
BJP leader Pravesh Verma is the current MP from West Delhi. Pravesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, is very popular among the voters of the Jat community. He is also considered very close to the top leadership of BJP. There is talk that BJP may field Parvesh Verma again on this seat. In such a situation, it may be difficult for Aam Aadmi Party candidate Mahabal Mishra to win this seat.
However, Mahabal Mishra himself has been an MP from this seat. He defeated BJP’s Jagdish Mukhi from the same seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections. Being a popular face among the Purvanchal community, he can also create trouble for the BJP candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
South Delhi Lok Sabha seat
BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri is the current MP from South Delhi Lok Sabha seat. He had won this seat in 2014 also. BJP sources believe that the party can once again field Ramesh Bidhuri, who has a tremendous hold on the people of his area. If this happens then problems may arise for Aam Aadmi Party candidate Sahiram. Sahiram is also very popular in his area and especially in the rural areas, he has a lot of credibility, which Aam Aadmi Party can benefit from.
New Delhi Lok Sabha seat
New Delhi Lok Sabha seat is considered a very prestigious seat in terms of the capital. From here, big faces of Delhi have been trying their luck. These faces include people like veteran BJP leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Lal Krishna Advani, Balraj Madhok, Sucheta Kripalani, Shatrughan Sinha and Rajesh Khanna. At present Union Minister Meenakshi Lekhi is the MP from this seat. BJP has an edge over BJP in this seat which consists entirely of urban voters. However, Congress leaders have also won from here several times.
The situation is not clear on who the BJP will field as its candidate from here in this election. Last time also Meenakshi Lekhi could get the ticket only at the very last moment. She has represented this seat twice, so the party can also gamble on a new face. At the same time, Aam Aadmi Party has fielded its MLA Somnath Bharti from here. His position in the region has been controversial. In such a situation, a tough fight can be seen between BJP and AAP on this seat.
