BJP Lost Punjab, Himachal, Delhi And Now Ready For 2024 Lok Sabha Election

BJP Strategy On Lok Sabha Election: The year 2022 has been full of ups and downs for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This year the ruling party put up a tough fight to retain dominance in Parliament and state assemblies. BJP won a record breaking victory in Gujarat. Won in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand. The BJP toppled the Shiv Sena-led coalition government in Maharashtra and formed a government with Shiv Sena rebels.

In an action-packed year, the BJP won high-stakes state elections, the Congress campaigned to unite the country against divisive policies, and India won the G20 presidency. At the same time, BJP lost the important Municipal Corporation (MCD) elections in two states of Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. The victory in Himachal Pradesh was significant for the BJP, as party president JP Nadda and Union minister Anurag Thakur hail from the hill state, but the public rejected the ‘double engine’ government and handed over power to the Congress.

BJP’s defeat in MCD

The BJP had a direct fight with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the MCD. By winning MCD 2022, AAP has broken the BJP’s rule for the last 15 years. This is also a big blow for BJP. After losing in these elections, BJP got a big relief, because it retained the government in Gujarat and has now started its preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Loksabha election preparation started

Lok Sabha elections are far away, but the BJP is gearing up to engage itself on the ideological and organizational fronts and dominate at the macro and micro levels. The BJP has never felt as secure as it is today about the public acceptance of its Hindutva ideology. The inauguration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, now scheduled for December 2023, will anyway be a prelude to the 2024 campaign.

The party will face some crucial assembly elections in 2023 in Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh, where it holds power, and in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, which it wants to win back. There is speculation that J.P. Nadda will remain in-charge for the 2024 general elections.

What is BJP’s plan from G20?

Prime minister Narendra Modi urged BJP leaders to ensure that India’s chairmanship of the G20 summit is made an inclusive event, as it is an opportunity to showcase the country’s culture and diversity. He asked the party leaders to make every Indian proud of this achievement and make them also a part of this historic occasion. G20 is also a big platform for BJP to strengthen the faith of people in its favor. The success of the G20 meeting can give an edge to the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
