The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned BJP MLA from Mathura’s Baldev seat Puran Prakash for 8 hours on Wednesday. He was questioned as part of the ongoing investigation against Kalpataru Group, which duped investors of crores of rupees by luring them with plots and flats through lucrative schemes. According to sources, the investigation has revealed that the company had given about Rs 2.50 crore to the BJP MLA from the money collected from investors.
ED questioned him about the amount transferred from the company’s accounts to the BJP MLA. According to sources, he did not give satisfactory answers to ED’s questions. He said that he would record his statement only after seeing the documents. ED has asked him for details of the amount received from Kalpataru Group, his bank accounts, properties etc. Let us tell you that Puran Prakash has been an MLA for five times.
Investors were duped in many states
Kalpataru Group is accused of duping investors from states like UP, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi etc. Police had filed several cases against the directors, agents etc. of the group on the complaint of investors. On the basis of this, ED had started investigation by registering a case against the company under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. However, the director of the group JK Rana died of corona three years ago.
