BSNL 5G Service: After Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea, the wait for 4G and 5G service of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is going to end soon. BSNL has officially confirmed the rollout of its 5G services. According to Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, BSNL’s 5G rollout will probably start in 2025. Jyotiraditya Scindia said that BSNL has successfully completed the testing of its 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) and core network on 3.6 GHz and 700 MHz frequency bands. Soon 5G services will be started in India.
When will BSNL 5G service start?
According to a report in The Hindu, L. Srinu, Principal General Manager, Andhra Pradesh, BSNL, announced in a press conference that BSNL is preparing to launch its 5G services by Sankranti 2025. At present the company is working on some basic things. Like upgrading towers and other essential equipment, so that the roll out of 5G can be done as soon as possible.
BSNL Mission 2025
Currently, BSNL is installing 4G sites across the country, which will be upgraded to 5G by the year 2025. BSNL aims to install 100,000 sites by mid-2025. In this, 39,000 sites have been established so far. BSNL will be the first operator in the country to implement both indigenous 4G and 5G. This service of BSNL is currently going through testing period.
Importance of 700 MHz premium band
Along with Reliance Jio, BSNL is the only telecom company that has access to the 700 MHz premium band. This band provides better coverage, while Airtel and Vodafone Idea have not decided to adopt it due to high cost.
