Excise police have seized foreign liquor worth Rs 3 lakh near Deval bridge connecting UP-Bihar in Rajpur police station area of Buxar district. Liquor smugglers were smuggling liquor from UP to Bihar by making a cellar in the Magic goods carrier vehicle. The vehicle was seized due to police vigilance, but the smuggler escaped taking advantage of the darkness.
According to the police, the vehicle was searched after it was stopped. But initially the vehicle appeared completely empty. When the police became suspicious, a thorough investigation was conducted, which led to the discovery of a basement beneath the vehicle. 35 boxes, i.e. a total of 302 liters of foreign liquor, were recovered from the basement.
Product Inspector Alok Kumar said that on the basis of secret information, the police had started checking the vehicles near Deval bridge. During this time, the driver of a pickup vehicle ran away after seeing the police. A cellar was made in the rear part of the vehicle with the help of welding and nuts and bolts, in which liquor was being brought secretly.
According to the information, Buxar district is adjacent to the border of UP, which has become a sensitive area for smuggling. Smugglers are adopting new methods to earn more profits during the festival. But this time the vigilance of the police foiled their plan. At present, the police is busy searching for the absconding smugglers and is investigating the case.
