The Health Department has started investigation into the case of buying and selling of newborn babies in Aligarh. On January 2, the complainant Asif and the director of Jeevan Hospital, Dr. Jayant Sharma, were interrogated in the ACMO office. The police have also started investigation at their level.

Four audios and two videos of nurses of Mahi Hostel, Meraj Hospital and Jeevan Hospital talking about buying and selling of newborns are going viral. The cost of a new born child has been fixed at Rs 3 lakh. The CMO had handed over the investigation of this matter to ACMO Dr. Dinesh Kumar Khatri. Now investigation has been started in this matter. During interrogation, Asif admitted that it was not he, but a garment businessman known to him who needed a child. The child was being bought and sold for them only.
ACMO Dr. Dinesh Khatri told that the director of Jeevan Hospital, Dr. Jayant Sharma says that he has nothing to do with this incident. The nurse involved in this has been fired from the hospital. ACMO said that the operators of Mahi Hostel and Meraj Hospital have also been called for questioning.
