Sardar Harbhajan Singh’s entire life was spent with the sting that even after spending 35 years as a migrant in India, he had not got Indian citizenship till date. He had to face trouble for every work. He did not have any documents while studying or traveling anywhere, due to which he had to face problems at every step. Despite being in India, he did not belong anywhere in the world. Because he was a Sikh, Pakistan did not accept him as its own, so he did not become a citizen of India.
Sardar Harbhajan Singh, who escaped from Pakistan 35 years ago to save his life, is now happy that he will get citizenship after some time. Their children will now have the honor of being called Indians. He said that if he gets an opportunity to vote for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha elections, then his birth will be successful. This experience is not only his, but about 35 thousand refugees living in Harinagar, Trinagar and other places. He said that these include those people who had fled from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh to India only to save their religion and to escape religious persecution.
Celebrated Holi with BJP President, burst crackers
Seeing the path to getting citizenship becoming easier, tremendous happiness was seen among the Hindu, Sikh and Jain people who came from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan. On Tuesday, a group of such people reached Delhi BJP office and celebrated Holi with President Virendra Sachdeva. The refugees also handed over a letter to Virendra Sachdeva, in which they expressed their feelings and expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister.
Virendra Sachdeva said that his family itself had come from Pakistan, so he feels the pain of these people. He became emotional on the occasion and could not control his tears. He said that all these refugees will now have the honor of being called Indians. Delhi BJP media cell in-charge Praveen Shankar Kapoor and Vikram Mittal said that from today the Government of India has given the status of Indian citizens to the refugees, now they are family members. They are welcomed on this earth with full respect and rights.
