How does Iron Dome work?
Iron Dome has become the most popular air defense system in the world. Iron Dome batteries are installed throughout Israel. Each battery has three or four launchers, each with 20 interceptor missiles.
Iron Dome detects and tracks incoming rockets with radar and calculates which rockets are likely to fall in populated areas. After this it fires missiles at these rockets, while the remaining rockets are left to fall in the open field.

When did the system come?
