According to SonicWall’s Mid-Year Cyber ​​Threat Report, there has been an increase in malware and ransomware cases in the country this year as compared to last year. According to the data, so far in 2024, there has been an increase of 11 percent in malware attacks and 22 percent in ransomware attacks. On the other hand, if we look at the data of 2023, the number of these cases was 12,13,528, which has now increased to 13,44,566.

At the same time, the number of cyber attacks has also increased in the Internet of Things (IOT). According to the data, there has been an increase of 59 percent here. The number of cyber attacks in 2023 was 10,57,320, which has increased to 16,80,787 in 2024.

Crypto attacks have also increased

According to the report of SonicWall, there has been a 409 percent increase in crypto attacks in the country. Apart from this, ransomware attacks have also increased by 22 percent. SonicWall Vice President Debashish Mukherjee has said that nowadays organizations are facing a dynamic threat landscape, where threat-creating hackers constantly innovate to defeat their security systems.

The report also claims that the organization faced 1,104 hours of severe attacks, due to which at least 12.6 percent of their annual revenue was at risk of cyber attack.

The report states that hackers are getting advanced with time. You can guess this from the fact that in the first five months of 2024, there were 78,923 malware attacks that were never seen before. At the same time, there has been a 30 percent increase in the first half of this year in the world.
