CBI Court Gives Verdict In Corruption Cases. – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live


The CBI court located in the capital Lucknow has pronounced the sentence. Dr. Shyamlal of Barabanki has been sentenced to three years imprisonment in the 28 year old Ayurveda scam.

The CBI court on Monday sentenced two doctors and two former bank employees guilty of corruption in five separate cases. This includes two then regional Ayurveda and Unani officers, Dr. Mahipat Singh of Uttarkashi and Dr. Shyamlal of Barabanki, involved in the 28-year-old Ayurveda scam. The court has sentenced both of them to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for committing a scam by purchasing goods without issuing tender.

Apart from this, the then Regional Director of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Jayakaran, who embezzled Rs 28 lakh given by the Central Government for building a Center of Excellence between July 2002 and September 2003, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 25 thousand. The sentence has been pronounced.

At the same time, in the year 2005, KK Mehta, the then manager of Halsi branch of UCO Bank in Kanpur, had stolen the FDR book and made fake drafts. Later, a loan of Rs 4.16 lakh was embezzled through him. CBI had registered two separate cases against him. If found guilty, he has been sentenced to 7 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 8.25 lakh. Whereas the then manager of Kidwainagar branch, Vijay Kumar, who helped him, has been punished with 3 years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50 thousand. Apart from this, the court has sentenced Kanpur resident Anil Gupta to two years imprisonment in a 25 year old case. Anil had defrauded the postal department by issuing fake railway receipts.
