central government files affidavit in Supreme Court on NEET paper leak hearing on 11 July NTA

NEET Paper Leak Case: An affidavit was filed by the Central Government in the Supreme Court on Wednesday (July 10) in the NEET paper leak case. Regarding this matter, on July 8, 2024, the Supreme Court had sought information from the National Examination Agency (NTA) and the CBI about the time of paper leak and the period between the examination. Meanwhile, NTA has also filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court.

NTA said the Telegram video was fake

In an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, NTA termed the alleged Telegram video on the NEET paper leak case as fake and said that the video was edited to show that it was of May 4. All the members of the Telegram channel were also fake. NTA said that in the NEET UG case, the top 100 candidates are from 95 centers in 56 cities, so the allegation of toppers being from only a few exam centers is baseless.

On the number of toppers more than 60, NTA said, “Actually only 17 toppers were revealed initially, but later when the issue of revision in the answer key was raised by the students, two answers of a Physics question were found to be correct. One based on the first NCERT book and one based on the new NCERT book. 44 students also got full marks for the answer to that one question and due to this the number of toppers reached 61.”

Central government is not in favor of conducting the exam again

The central government said that it is not in favor of conducting the NEET exam again. According to the affidavit, the government is ensuring that no guilty student gets any benefit. The central government said that there was no large-scale irregularity in the exam.

In this affidavit filed in the Supreme Court, it has been said by the Central Government that counseling will start from the third week of July 2024. During this, if it is found that any student has passed the examination in an unfair manner, then his result will be canceled.

In the NEET UG case, the Centre said in an affidavit filed in the Supreme Court that the data analytics of IIT Madras does not show any abnormality or large-scale irregularities.

CBI has arrested 11 people

The Supreme Court, while hearing the petitions alleging irregularities in NEET-UG, had also asked the NTA to file an affidavit. The next hearing in this case will be held on July 11, 2024. The CBI arrested two more people from Patna on Tuesday (July 9, 2024) in connection with the alleged paper leak in the NEET case. The CBI has so far arrested a total of 11 people in this case.
