In the year 2018, the actress herself approached the court for divorce from Farhan. In an interview given to Bombay Times, the actress said, “The decision to leave Farhan was right. I was carrying on this marriage for so long, this is because after the second marriage broke, people would have started judging me. It is not easy to take such a step. There is pressure from society. In the end, I decided to live happily. I took this decision just 2 days before my birthday.”
The actress further said, “Farhan has tortured me physically and mentally. He used to tell me that I was having an affair with my co-actor. He would often go to the sets of Qubool Hai serial. He would create a ruckus even if I hugged or held a co-actor’s hand during the shooting. Once I was invited to a co-actor’s party which Farhan Mirza called a date.”
Farhan used to forcefully make physical relations
Chahat had said, “He used to force me to have sex even when I was not feeling well. It didn’t matter to him even if my life was in danger. I had to endure all this for my daughters. This is really more than domestic violence. Farhan tried to keep me away from my family. Now I can’t stay with Farhan even for a second. He used to threaten to commit suicide all the time.”
