In Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a case of fraudulent registration of students and embezzlement of scholarship worth Rs 11 lakh came to light. Police investigation has been completed in the case registered against the couple, the operators of Urjit Infotech Computer Centre. The police have filed a charge sheet in the court against both the accused. Taking cognizance of this, the court has summoned the accused couple on January 24.
Couple Pradeep Faujdar and Mitali Faujdar, residents of Radhanagar, Mathura, directors of Urjit Infotech Computer Center, along with the employees of the District Backward Class Welfare Office, helped backward class students in India in the years 2010-11, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16. There is an allegation of embezzling government money worth Rs 10 lakh 90 thousand in the name of training in government recognized “O” level computer course.
RTI activist Ashutosh Garg had exposed this scam using the Right to Information. On this, the department recovered Rs 4 lakh 20 thousand from the couple and canceled the Urjit Infotech Computer Centre. But, no FIR was lodged for embezzlement and fraud of government funds.
At the same time, in March 2018 and May 2019, the operator couple of Urjit Infotech Computer Center was blacklisted by the Ministry of Information Technology, Government of India, even after being found guilty of cheating by hacking the government computer network in the CCC examination.
On November 8, 2019, Ashutosh Garg complained to the SSP and filed a case under relevant sections against the couple and the employees of the District Backward Class Welfare Office in Kotwali city. The police have filed a charge sheet against the couple while investigating.
