Protem Speaker Swearing In: Senior Congress MLA Chaudhary Chandra Kumar was made the pro tem speaker. Now he is to be sworn in, which is scheduled to happen on Monday, December 19, 2022. His swearing will be at Raj Bhavan and Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar will administer him the oath. The program will be held at 5.30 pm.

Chandra Kumar will conduct the proceedings of the House on December 22 and 23 during the winter session of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. After this, the election of the new speaker of the assembly will be held on December 23 itself and after that the new speaker will take charge. Chandra Kumar has won from Jawali assembly constituency of Kangra district for the sixth time. The winter session of the Vidhansabha will be held at Tapovan in Dharamshala.

Chaudhary Chandra Kumar was born in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. He is counted among the senior leaders of the Congress. Presently he is an MLA from Jawali Vidhansabha of Himachal Pradesh and before that he has also been a minister in the state. Along with this, he has also been an MP from Kangra in the year 2004. Chandra Kumar has also held the post of Minister of State, Agriculture and Forestry in Himachal government between 1982-2004. Along with this, he has also handled the responsibility of the Department of Electricity and Projects as a cabinet minister in the Himachal government between the years 1989-1990.
