There is a wave of happiness in Sadabad assembly constituency due to the announcement of giving Bharat Ratna to former Prime Minister and farmers’ messiah Chaudhary Charan Singh. Former PM used to call Saadabad as Mini Chhaprauli. People are praising this decision of the government a lot.
Sadabad has always been considered a Jat dominated area. Earlier this assembly came under Mathura district. Chaudhary Charan Singh had come to Manikpur in 1972 to campaign for Bharatiya Kranti Dal candidate Ramprakash Yadav. Ramprakash Yadav had won the election. In 1984, while going from Agra to Raya, he went to Sadabad intersection telling people that this was Chhoti Chhaprauli. Went from Raya to address the meeting being held in Mathura. Chhabi Minya had won this election. The Congress candidate was defeated. After this, no Congress candidate could ever win from this seat. When Ch. Charan Singh formed a party in the name of Bharatiya Kranti Dal, at that time he came to village Manikpur of Sahpau in 1972 to spread his party. He said that when the DM of the district stands up from his chair and shakes hands with the farmer, then I will understand that the farmer is being respected.
Ch. Postal stamp was issued in the name of Charan Singh
Former treasurer of Bharatiya Janata Party Shailendra Varshney Saraf has also expressed happiness over the government’s decision. As a philatelist, he has also collected postage stamps of Chaudhary Charan Singh. Varshney said that Choudhary Saheb, who lived a simple life and adopted high thoughts, dedicated his entire life to the welfare of farmers. As an administrator, he was considered very principled and disciplined. He was a skilled writer as well as a well-wisher of farmers. In his honor, in 1990, the Government of India issued a postage stamp worth one rupee.
In 1982 Ch. Charan Singh held a meeting in Sikandrarau
Former Prime Minister Ch. Charan Singh had held a public meeting in the year 1982 in support of Lok Dal candidate Suresh Pratap Gandhi. Although Gandhi had lost the election, but after the announcement of the former PM getting Bharat Ratna, the old memories of his followers related to the public meeting have become fresh again. Let us tell you that in the 1982 assembly elections, Chaudhary Charan Singh had declared Suresh Pratap Gandhi as the candidate from Lok Dal. At that time Virbahadur Singh was the Chief Minister. He had made Pushpa Chauhan, sister of film director KP Singh, a candidate. A huge crowd had gathered at Bade Chaudhary’s meeting held at the playground.
