India-China Border Dispute: During the long-standing tension between India and China, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has expressed his desire to work with India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. The Chinese Foreign Minister has talked about fixing the issues related to the ground situation in the border areas in eastern Ladakh. Along with this, Ajit Doval has been congratulated on his reappointment as India’s National Security Advisor and Special Representative for the India-China border question. Wang Yi said, the relationship between China and India is beyond bilateral borders which promotes global importance.
Wang Yi, along with being the foreign minister of China, is also the special representative of China for the India-China border dialogue mechanism. Apart from this, Wang Yi is also a member of the political bureau of the ruling Communist Party of China. In a congratulatory message to Ajit Doval, Wang wrote, ‘China and India are the world’s most populous countries and the world’s emerging economies. The relations between China and India are beyond bilateral borders and have global importance.’
Wang Yi and S Jaishankar met in Kazakhstan
According to China’s official news Xinhua, Wang said that he is ready to join hands with Doval to implement the important consensus made by the two countries and to properly handle land-related issues in the border areas. So that peace and harmony can be maintained in the border areas. Wang Yi recently met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Astana, Kazakhstan, after which he has given such a statement. A bilateral mechanism has been created for border dispute
Actually, there is a 3488 km long disputed border between India and China. A special representative mechanism was formed in the year 2003 to address issues related to border disputes. It is headed by the National Security Advisor from India and the Foreign Minister from China. This mechanism has held 19 meetings in the past years, analysts believe that it is a very useful and promising bilateral mechanism. However, the border dispute with China has not ended yet. Relations between the two countries have reached a low level after the violent clash in the Galwan Valley on 5 May 2020.
