China Threatens US For Deploying Aircraft Carrier: China has been trying to dominate the South China Sea for many years. Global Times, the main newspaper of the Chinese Communist Party, quoted two Chinese maritime analysts as saying that the US Navy cannot compete with the People’s Liberation Army. Experts claimed that China has achieved military superiority in the Western Pacific Region.
China criticized America
Chinese experts criticized the US for the deployment of CSG in the South China Sea and claimed that it was aimed at increasing tensions with the Philippines. Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines have opposed China’s territorial claims in the South and East China Sea. According to America’s Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM), USS Carl Vinson CSG has arrived in SCS after a successful visit to Singapore.
Features of USS Carl Vinson
USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) is the third Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. It is named in honor of Georgia Congressman Carl Vinson. The USS Carl Vinson CSG consists of five missile cruisers and destroyers, including the Ticonderoga-class USS Princeton, the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers USS Hopper, USS Kidd, USS Sterrett, and USS William P. Lawrence.
Before entering the South China Sea, the CSG participated in a Triangular maritime exercise with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) and the South Korean Navy. Photos released by the USN also show the USS Carl Vinson firing the MK 15 Phalanx Gatling-Gun Close-In Weapon System (CIWS).
