Closed coal mine in kenapara of surajpur has been converted into a tourist center

Ambikapur: In the Surajpur district of Chhattisgarh, neither the bird nor the human used to wander on a closed coal mine. There used to be only coal dust and soil, but today one can see gardens, trees and plants and a crowd of people in that coal mine. You must be thinking that what was done so that this desolate land has become green today and it has turned into a picnic spot.

Kenapara Tourism Center located at Bishrampur in Surajpur which used to be a coal mine operated by SECL. This mine was closed for many years. There was a moat more than 100 feet deep here. Gradually, water kept filling here on its own and it developed into a puddle. This pond has now been converted into a tourist center by the district administration.

This tourist center is surrounded by mountain dunes. In this tourist center, you will get the facility of boating, floating restaurant and you will get to see small wooden cottage houses built in the hills of the mountain. Mohammad Naseem, who is working on the post of regional coordinator, told that about 400 to 500 people visit this tourist center daily. The foundation of this tourism center was laid in 2018 and since then this tourism center is being operated.

It was further told that the operation of boating and other works in this tourist center has been given to women self-help groups. Ampi Rajwade, secretary of the women’s self-help group working here, told that a total of 12 women work here. They are getting employment through this tourism center. Fish farming is also done in this tourist center through cage. Where many types of fish seeds are prepared and sold in the market.

place worth seeing
As soon as the evening comes, the crowd of people starts gathering in this tourist center. The way a closed coal mine has been converted into a tourist center, it is really worth seeing. Along with this, this tourist center is becoming the center of attraction of the people. Local women are also getting employment from the centre.
