Cow Loss Compensation: A large population of the country was affected by the Corona epidemic for a long time. When this crisis was averted, the havoc of lumpy skin disease took the lives of the animals. Animal husbandry sector of the country was most affected by lumpy skin disease. Lakhs of animals died in North India itself, due to which the cattle herders also suffered a lot. To make up for this loss, many state governments announced relief packages. Meanwhile, the Rajasthan government has also extended a helping hand to the cattle herders. Recently, in its annual budget, the Gehlot government has announced the launch of Kamdhenu Bima Yojana along with the announcement of compensation for the cows that die from Lumpi.
Compensation to cattle herders for cows dying from lumpy
For the development and expansion of the animal husbandry sector, the security of livestock is very important. If the good health of the animals and their safety is guaranteed to the animal herders, then this sector will emerge as profitable. Keeping this in mind, the Rajasthan government has also included Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Bima Yojana in its budget for the financial year 2023-24.
In Rajasthan, there is a provision of economic support to the cattle herders who have suffered losses due to the outbreak of lumpy disease. Financial assistance of Rs 40,000 will be given to cattle herders who lost their lives due to Lumpy skin disease.
What is Kamdhenu Insurance Scheme
The Livestock Insurance Scheme of the Central Government is applicable in the whole country, despite which the Rajasthan Government has announced the Kamdhenu Insurance Scheme in the new budget. A major reason for this is also that the limit of insurance of 50,000 animals has been set under the Livestock Insurance Scheme of the Center, while livestock is expanding in the country.
If reports are to be believed, cattle herders do not get compensation in case of untimely death of milch animals under the central scheme. This is the reason that in order to provide universal coverage of loss to the cattle rearers, the cattle rearers of the state will be linked to the Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Bima Yojana.
Under this scheme, every cattle rearing family will be given the facility to get their 2-2 milch animals insured. Also, the amount of insurance per animal will be Rs 40,000. The Rajasthan government has made a provision to spend Rs 750 crore for Kamdhenu Bima Yojana in its budget, which will benefit 20 lakh cattle herders of the state.
