Mamata Banerjee On Medhashree Scholarship: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday (January 19) criticized the central government’s move to stop scholarship for students from backward castes and minority communities. He said that his government would provide assistance to such students. Along with this, the Chief Minister started the ‘Medhashree Scholarship’ scheme.
Launching the ‘Medashree Scholarship’ scheme, Chief Minister Banerjee said, “Her government will do everything possible on its part to protect the interests of the students.” He announced that a grant amount of Rs 800 would be provided to students belonging to backward and minority communities under the ‘Medhashri Scholarship’ scheme. He said, “His government will do everything on its part to protect the interests of the backward and minority communities of the society.”
Center accused of stopping scholarship
CM Mamata Banerjee accused the central government of stopping pre-matric scholarship for SC, ST, OBC and minority students. During the administrative review meeting, he said, “The central government has stopped the scholarship of Other Backward Classes (OBC) and other minority students, but don’t worry. We will provide them the same grant amount.”

The TMC supremo also accused the BJP of dividing the people. He said, “Attempts are being made to create division among the people of West Bengal.” Mamta said, “Ignore whatever the BJP is saying to create division among the people. We should focus on building a united society. We want to look at a unified society.”
JP Nadda’s attack on the Chief Minister
BJP national president JP Nadda is on the tour of West Bengal. Addressing a public meeting in Nadia district, he targeted CM Mamata Banerjee. Nadda said, “The central government sends money and corruption happens here. In Bengal, they did the Saubhagya scam. When the scam is investigated, CM Mamta Banerjee starts saying Modi government, but let us tell that the Modi government is honest. ”
