Madhubani: Madhubani region of Mithila is very famous for its food. Many sweets are quite famous here. But if we talk about Gulab Jamun, it has no match. We are talking about Benipatti of Benipatti assembly under Madhubani district. Banshi Sah’s shop is located here. Which is the oldest and famous shop of this area. Where along with Gulab Jamun, Rasgulla, Longlatta, Imarti and fast food are available. But Gulab Jamun is special. CM Nitish Kumar himself is crazy about its taste.
Started in 1929
Akshay, the owner of this shop, told in a special conversation with Local 18 that it was started in 1929 by his great grandfather. Then the shop was run by his grandfather and father. Now its responsibility is in my hands. Akshay tells that the taste of Gulab Jamun here is such that those who taste it once will come here again to eat it. The price of Gulab Jamun here is Rs 280 per kg. Talking about pieces, you will have to spend Rs 15 for 1 piece. This sweet is selling 2 to 3 quintals daily.
This gulab jamun is made in ghee
Akshay also told about the recipe of Gulab Jamun from Local 18. He told that milk is curdled and then chhena is made from it. After that ghee is used for gulab jamun. Due to this, its taste is quite different. There are around 30 staff in the shop who work for cleanliness, maintenance and customer convenience. Apart from this, it has a kitchen in the basement. Where Gulab Jamun and other things are prepared. The main feature of their shops is that special care is taken of cleanliness here.
CM Nitish has also tasted it in 2012
Akshay further tells that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has also praised this shop. When he came to Benipatti during the year 2012, he tasted Gulab Jamun at this shop. Later, Nitish Kumar also talked to the shop owner about increasing the branches and space of the shop.

It is very easy to reach here. There is hardly anyone in Madhubani district who does not know the name of Banshi Sah. Benipatti Lohia Chowk can be reached by road from Madhubani or Darbhanga or Sitamarhi. Where their shop is. Public transport is available from all three routes.
