Coimbatore Car Blast Case NIA Arrested Two Operatives


Coimbatore Car Blast Case: The NIA (National Investigation Agency) has arrested two more people on Wednesday (28 December) in the car blast case that took place in Coimbatore on 23 October. NIA officials gave this information.

The NIA said that both were identified as Sheikh Hidayatullah and Sanofar Ali. The house of both is in Coimbatore only. Initially, on October 23, the Tamil Nadu Police had registered the case and then it was taken over by the NIA on October 27. The police termed it as a terrorist attack.

What is the matter?

The NIA said that nine people accused of helping Jamisha Mubeen (the car driver killed in the blast) in procuring explosives and other material to carry out the blast in front of a temple in Coimbatore have already been arrested.

What did the Tamil Nadu police say?

Tamil Nadu Police on Monday (December 26) said that since the accused are lodged in Chennai’s Puzhal Jail, the NIA had requested the court to grant nine days’ custody to the agency for interrogation of the five accused.

Police said the court agreed to the NIA’s request and the five accused — Mohd Azruddin, Afzar Khan, Firoz, Ismail and Umar Farooq — were brought from Chennai to Coimbatore. Please tell that in Mangaluru, a moving auto rickshaw also had a blast on November 2022. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai called it an act of terror.
