Cold wave and cold are continuing in the entire division including Bareilly. There was no sunshine on Tuesday due to the westerly wind blowing clouds. The day temperature in Bareilly dropped by two degrees and was recorded about six degrees below normal. It is cloudy on Wednesday also. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for two more days of cold day. There is a forecast of further drop in temperature during this period. At the same time, winter is wreaking havoc in the Terai districts of Pilibhit and Lakhimpur Kheri. Melting continues due to lack of sunlight. People’s hands and legs are becoming numb.

Bareilly remained shrouded in fog on Tuesday morning. The cold wind kept giving the feeling of melting. Wherever he was, he seemed to be shivering. Even during the day, people were seen trying unsuccessfully to get rid of the cold by lighting bonfires at various places. The day temperature was recorded at 13.9 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature dropped by one degree to 10.8 degrees Celsius. Darkness started falling from 4 o’clock in the evening. People started confined to their homes. There was silence on the streets from eight o’clock at night.

Atul Kumar, expert of the Zonal Meteorological Center, said that cold and cold wave will continue to haunt till the westerly winds stop. The effect of cold will still remain. Probably after this, easterly wind will blow and the weather will clear up after the fog clears. People have been appealed to avoid traveling at night and take precautions to avoid cold.

people shivering from thaw and cold
People in Pilibhit are suffering from the ravages of winter since last 10 days. Melting and cold wind are troubling people. There has been a light haze of fog in the district since Wednesday morning. Due to cold, people are forced to hide in their homes. There was silence in the streets and markets till 11 o’clock. A few people out for important work were seen moving on the streets.

Shivered by cold winds
In Shahjahanpur, people are shivering due to the icy wind. There was light fog in the entire district including the city on Wednesday morning. The minimum temperature recorded was 10.8 degrees Celsius. Westerly wind is blowing. Due to the maximum temperature being below 15 degrees Celsius, people are not getting relief even during the day. There is no chance of sunshine on Tuesday also.
