The actor we are talking about is none other than the uncrowned king of comedy, Kapil Sharma. Kapil’s film career did not work out but he has made a place in the hearts of the audience with his comic timing and melodious voice.
Kapil Sharma was born in a Punjabi family in Amritsar city of Punjab. His father was a head constable in the Punjab Police, however, he was diagnosed with cancer in 1997 and died at AIIMS, Delhi in 2004. After his father’s death, Kapil took the responsibility of the house and worked at a PCO booth for Rs 500 per month. To support his family, he also worked in a textile factory.
After this Kapil auditioned for Laughter Challenge, however, he failed in the audition in Punjab, but he did not give up and auditioned again in Delhi. Here luck favored him and he got selected. Later in 2007 he also won the competition.
Kapil Sharma won Comedy Circus for six consecutive seasons and after that, he started his own production company, K9 Productions, before launching his hit show, Comedy Nights with Kapil. Kapil became famous in every household in no time and since then he never looked back. He also interviewed many A-listers actors in Bollywood from Shahrukh Khan to Salman Khan.
After becoming the comedy king on the small screen, Kapil Sharma decided to try his luck in Bollywood. And in 2015, he made his Bollywood debut with ‘Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon’ along with three actresses and the film was a box-office hit. After this, Kapil’s film ‘Firangi’ came but it failed to impress the audience and also flopped at the box office. Kapil’s next film, ‘Zweigato’ also received critical praise but proved unsuccessful at the box-office.
Kapil Sharma has given just one hit film in his 9 years long career in Bollywood but you will be shocked to know his net worth. Kapil is the richest television actor with a net worth of Rs 300 crore. He reportedly charges Rs 50 lakh per film.
Kapil Sharma will now be seen in a special cameo in ‘The Crew’. Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kriti Sanon have played lead roles in this film. This film will be released in theaters on March 29.
Not only this, his comedy show ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’ went off air last year, however, now he is back to entertain the audience with his upcoming show on Netflix starring Sunil Grover, Kiku Sharda, and many more. Other artists will be seen. The name of this show is ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ and it will stream on Netflix from March 30.
