Nalanda. Whatever may be the communal atmosphere of the country. It doesn’t make any difference to the people here. Here Hindus have preserved the heritage of Muslims for years. The Hindu families here are responsible for the maintenance of the mosque of Maadi village located in Ben block of Nalanda. There is a custom of darshan and obeisance in this mosque before the arrival and departure of any marriage procession in the village.
People were migrating due to flood
Local people say that in the beginning of the 20th century, Muslim families here started migrating due to the problem of continuous floods. According to the local people, there is a river all around the village. Earlier there was no road facility here, no permanent means of transportation was available. Due to it being a flood affected area, everyone started migrating from here.
Hindus started taking care of the mosque, this story is interesting
With time the number of Muslims here became zero. In such a situation, the Hindus here took over the mosque built in this village. The Hindu villagers here also started offering namaz in the mosque. Namaz started taking place here five times a day and on any auspicious occasion the Hindus here started treating this place like a temple. Since then, puja and aarti are shown here daily. On any auspicious occasion, people come here and take blessings of Peer Baba. Only after that let’s complete some other work.
the people here are happy
There is not even a wrinkle on the faces of the people here while working in the mosque. He is very happy doing this. Local people take care of the mosque and worship it every day, just like a temple. The population of the village is about 4000. The distance of the village is about 10 kilometers from the block headquarters.
