Congress has played the backward, Muslim and Dalit (PMD) card in Uttar Pradesh. Three senior leaders have been included in the central committee and given new responsibilities. Shahnawaz Alam and Sushil Pasi, who are considered close to National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, have been made national secretaries and co-in-charge of Bihar. Similarly, Vidit Chaudhary, who comes from the Gurjar community, has been made national secretary and co-in-charge of Himachal and Chandigarh.
