Imran Pratapgarhi: Congress MP Imran Pratapgarhi has been booked for posting an edited video of a mass wedding ceremony held in Gujarat’s Jamnagar for allegedly posting an edited video with an inflammatory song in the background. Police gave this information on Saturday (January 4, 2025) and said that Pratapgarhi had attended this marriage ceremony.
Local Congress leader Altaf Khafi and the trust that organized the event as well as Pratapgarhi were booked under sections of the Indian Judicial Code related to promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race etc.

“The national president of the Congress minority cell was booked on the complaint of a Jamnagar resident after he posted a video on ‘X’ in reference to a mass marriage ceremony held on December 29,” Superintendent of Police Premsukh Delu said. In this 46-second video clip, it is shown that when Pratapgarhi is walking waving his hands, flowers are being showered on him and a song is playing in the background. Regarding this song, it has been said in the FIR that such a song was used in it which is inflammatory, harmful for national unity and hurting religious sentiments. SP said that the voice in the video is probably that of Pratapgarhi.
‘Will be encouraged to resort to violence’
The FIR lodged by Kishan Nanda states that spreading such a video would encourage a group of ten or more people to resort to violence, which is punishable under Section 57 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). Is a crime. This case was registered at Jamnagar A-Division police station on Friday. Delu said Pratapgarhi posted the video on social media on January 2, three days after attending the mass wedding ceremony. He said that ‘X’ users have made sharp comments on this video.
