Construction Of Metro Tunnel From Transport Nagar To Kanpur Central Begins – Amar Ujala Hindi News Live

UPMRC on Sunday started construction of the tunnel from the underground metro station under construction in Transport Nagar towards Kanpur Central. Azad Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) is doing this work in the up line. Preparations are also being made to run a metro train for passengers from IIT to Kanpur Central.

Azad and Vidyarthi TBM have built a 330 meter long tunnel from the ramp area located near Swadeshi Cotton Mill to Transportnagar station. Azad TBM, after building a 215 meter long tunnel till Transport Nagar station in October, will now build a 1.80 kilometer long tunnel from there till Kanpur Central via Jhakarkati. This TBM will now reach Jhakarkati underground station by constructing about 720 meter tunnel on the up-line. It will be transported to the other end of the 158 meter long station, from where it will be launched for the last time to construct a 940 meter long tunnel to Kanpur Central Station.

There are seven underground stations in Corridor-1.

The 8.20 km long underground section of Corridor-1 has seven underground metro stations namely Chuniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha, Nayaganj, Kanpur Central, Jhakarkati and Transport Nagar.
