Coronavirus Cases In India 196 Cases Of JN.1 Variant Found In 10 States


Covid-19 Sub Variant JN.1: Covid-19 cases are continuously increasing in India. Along with this, cases of sub-variant JN.1 of Covid are also increasing. Meanwhile, on Monday (January 1), the total number of JN.1 cases has reached 196. According to INSACOG data, a total of 196 cases of Covid-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been detected in the country so far.

According to INSACOG, new variants have also been detected in Odisha. With this, Odisha has also joined those states where JN.1 cases have been found. So far, ten states and union territories of the country have detected the JN.1 sub-variant of the virus.

Highest number of cases found in Kerala
According to the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), so far the maximum number of 83 cases of JN.1 have been reported from Kerala. After this, 51 cases have been reported in Goa, 34 in Gujarat, 8 in Karnataka, 7 in Maharashtra, 5 in Rajasthan, 4 in Tamil Nadu, 2 in Telangana and one each in Odisha and Delhi.

According to INSACOG data, out of the total Covid cases recorded across the country in December, the JN.1 variant was found in 179 cases, while 17 cases were reported in November.

636 new cases of Covid-19 registered
At the same time, the Health Ministry said on Monday that 636 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in India. With this the number of active cases has increased to 4,394. So far three people have died due to Covid. Among those who died, two were from Kerala, while one was from Tamil Nadu.

The Health Ministry said that by December 5 last year, the number of daily cases of corona had come down to double digits, but due to the JN.1 variant, the cases of the virus are increasing again.

Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the country in January 2020, 4.50 crore (4,50,13,908) cases have been reported so far. In almost four years, there have been more than 5.3 lakh deaths across the country due to the virus.
