COVID-19 XBB.1.5 Variant Cases In India Have Gone Up To 26


COVID-19 XBB.1.5 Variant: The number of cases of XBB.1.5 variant of Kovid-19, responsible for the spurt in corona cases in America, has increased to 26 in India. This information was obtained from the data of INSACOG. The India SARS-Cov-2-Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) said on Monday (January 16) that cases of the XBB.1.5 variant have so far been detected in 11 states and union territories, including Delhi, Maharashtra and West Bengal.

The XBB.1.5 strain is a relative of the XBB variant of Omicron, which is part of the Omicron BA.2.10.1 and BA.2.75 sub-variants. The XBB and XBB.1.5 variants account for 44 percent of cases in the US. The INSACOG data also showed that so far 14 cases of the BF.7 sub-variant have also been found in India. This variant has created havoc in China.

BF.7 sub-variant cases also increased

omicron Four cases of sub-variant BF.7 have been reported in West Bengal, three in Maharashtra, two each in Haryana and Gujarat and one each in Odisha, Delhi and Karnataka. INSACOG has reported nationwide genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 through sequencing of samples from international travelers arriving in India.

Corona situation in the country

According to Monday’s data of the Union Health Ministry, 114 new Kovid-19 cases have been found in India in the last 24 hours. At the same time, active cases have come down to 2,119. The total number of cases in the country is 4.46 crore (4,46,81,154). Also, no covid-related death has been reported in the country in the last 24 hours. The death toll from Coronavirus so far is 5,30,726. While the death rate has been recorded at 1.19 percent.
