An encounter took place near Manikpur turn in Mehanajpur police station area of Azamgarh district on Wednesday early morning. In the encounter, the miscreant Shyamsundar Vanvasi, resident of Sidhauna village, was shot in the leg. The policemen admitted him to the district hospital for treatment. The said accused had shot Omprakash (48) on Tuesday evening over his illicit relationship with his wife. Omprakash’s condition remains critical due to the bullet injury.
This is the whole matter
Om Prakash (48), a resident of Sidhauna village of Mehanajpur police station area, used to smoke ganja daily with Shyamsundar Vanvasi of the same village. Both were sitting together on Tuesday evening at around 6.30 pm. During this time, Om Prakash quarreled with Shyamsundar suspecting him of having an illicit relationship with his wife. A heated argument broke out between the two. During this, an angry Shyamsundar took out a pistol and fired a shot at him. Om Prakash fell on the ground as soon as he was shot. When the family members reached the spot after getting the information, Shyamsundar fled from the spot.
The family took Omprakash, who was writhing in pain on the ground, to PHC Mehanajpur. Seeing his critical condition, the doctor referred him to a higher centre. The family took him to Varanasi, where he is undergoing treatment. On the complaint of the family, the police registered a case and started searching for Shyamsundar.
Police received information that Shyamsundar Vanvasi was present near Manikpur turn. Police became active and reached the place mentioned. Police asked him to surrender, but he tried to escape by firing at the police. In retaliation, police also had to fire. Police’s bullet hit Shyamsundar’s leg due to which he got injured. Police surrounded him and caught him.
