Marine engineer Naman, who conspired to kidnap himself and demanded ransom, was trapped in the web of crypto trading for almost three years. In the beginning he made huge profits. Then his greed increased. First, he invested his savings and then took money from family and friends and spent it in crypto, which he lost and became a debtor of Rs 54 lakh in a few months. Naman himself disclosed this in the interrogation of the police.

Naman, a resident of Bihar’s Rohtas, works in a private company in Bangalore. He reached Lucknow on Monday and met his future brother-in-law. After that went back to the hotel. Shortly after, he contacted the family members through an internet call and posing as a kidnapper, claimed that Naman was in his possession. After this, a ransom of Rs 20 lakh was demanded. Acting on the complaint of the sister, the commissionerate police caught Naman within two hours and exposed his conspiracy.

ADCP West Chiranjeev Nath Sinha told that Naman told during interrogation that one of his friends works in crypto currency trading. He had first made his account and invested a lump sum amount, then he kept investing in crypto when he got profit.

For the last few months, he started incurring losses. In the course of recovery, he started taking money from people and investing it in crypto, but that too kept sinking. After this, no way was seen, so he conspired to kidnap her.

Had also taken five lakhs from girlfriend

The ADCP said that among the people from whom Naman had borrowed money, he had also taken Rs 5 lakh from his girlfriend. When his parents from Bihar reached Lucknow late on Monday night, he accepted his mistake. Gave an apology in this regard. Since the money was deposited from the father and he did not want any action, the police handed him over to the family members after reading the documents.
