Outer District Cyber Cell has exposed an international fake call center defrauding American citizens. The accused used to cheat by pretending to be employees of Apple and Microsoft and promising to solve the problem. The accused have been identified as Shubham Chaudhary, Akhil Bardiya and Rahul Gusain. Police have recovered five laptops, four smart phones and two WiFi routers from their possession.
The police officer said that the Outer District Cyber Cell got information about a fake call center running in Paschim Vihar. The police also came to know that foreigners were being cheated through call centres. After confirming the information, the police raided the call center running in a building in Paschim Vihar. Three accused were present here. All three used to cheat foreigners by pretending to be officials of Microsoft and Apple and promising to solve their company-related problems. The police arrested all three accused. Police recovered five laptops, four smart phones and two WiFi routers from the spot.
During the investigation, the police found that the accused were causing a loss of crores to the government through illegal VoIP calling, bypassing the legal International Long Distance (ILD) gateway. The accused were using high-end technology software like X-Lite and remote access applications like Team Viewer and AnyDesk to make the calls. He was defrauding the people living in America by assuring them that the problem would be solved and collecting huge amount from them.
District Police Deputy Commissioner Jimmy Chiram said that a note pad and Excel sheet were found in the laptop of the accused, in which mobile numbers and email IDs of the victims and details of the defrauded money were written. The police is investigating and trying to find out how much fraud the accused have done. The police officer said that Shubham, a resident of Rani Bagh, is the leader of the gang. He is 12th pass. After a dispute between his parents, he leaves home and lives with his mother. Meanwhile, Akhil, a resident of Rajouri Garden, has studied B.Com. Whereas Harinagar resident Rahul is doing BBA course from Open.
