Mahakumbh 2025: Mahakumbh 2025, the great festival of faith, is starting from Monday. Crores of devotees will participate in this fair which will last for 45 days. Apparently cyber thugs are also keeping their eyes on this. Before the fair, many fake websites are cheating people in the name of booking and donating for the fair. In view of this, the cyber crime police of Pimpri-Chinchwad of Maharashtra has alerted the people. Police have said that people need to be cautious of such fake websites.
Police issued advisory
In the advisory issued by the police, it has been said that many fake websites, links and other platforms have been created on the internet and social media to play with the faith of the devotees going to Maha Kumbh. This has come to the notice of the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) of the Home Ministry. Due to this, Pimpri-Chinchwad Cyber Police is issuing advisory to caution people from such scams.
Cheating can be done in these ways
Police have said that people can be cheated in different ways. Some fake websites, links and platforms can take money from people in the name of donations. Apart from this, they can be defrauded in the name of hotels, tents and other accommodation arrangements. Some of these platforms may ask people to download files containing viruses, due to which access to the user’s device may go into the hands of hackers.
Suggest these measures to prevent fraud
Police cautioned people and said that they should not click on any suspicious websites and links. For all the information related to the fair, see the official website of the fair only. Apart from this, do not share sensitive, financial information and passwords with any unknown or suspicious person. If you suspect fraud, contact the nearest police station or cyber crime helpline.
