The risk of dengue has increased after the rain in Varanasi district. The health department launched a campaign to check for larvae in waterlogged areas. More than 22 thousand houses were checked in twenty days. Notices have been issued to 91 houses where mosquito larvae were found. Apart from this, people have been asked to pay special attention to cleanliness.
The health department has created 34 hotspots in urban areas and 28 in rural areas. These are the areas where more cases have been found earlier. Special attention is being paid to these areas. District malaria officer Sharad Chand Pandey said that mosquito larvae were searched from house to house from August 1. About 22,260 houses were visited. Larvae sources were found at 56040 places and containers. All the sources were destroyed.
91 such houses were found where the source of larvae was found repeatedly, notices have also been issued to those houses. From 1st to 20th August, about 1097 patients with fever symptoms were found. No malaria positive case was found in the investigation while one person suspected of dengue was found. Dengue is considered confirmed only after the ELISA test report comes.
CMO Dr. Sandeep Chaudhary says that along with checking for larvae around houses in urban and rural areas, screening and awareness camps are being organized. With the help of Municipal Corporation and Panchayati Raj, anti-larva spraying and fogging is also being done in rural and urban areas. 20-20 beds in government hospitals and 10-10 beds in CHCs and 5 beds with mosquito nets have been reserved in PHCs.
