Weddings often take place in the famous Shyama Mai temple of Darbhanga, but the marriage of a loving couple has become a topic of discussion. There was a love affair going on for about eight years between Pradeep Mandal, resident of Deuri village of Ghanshyampur and Rita Kumari, resident of Danapur in Supaul district. Both their families were not ready for the marriage. Pradeep doesn’t have both hands. He is disabled. Whereas Rita is completely fine. The biggest curiosity in this wedding was the garland which in normal weddings you would have seen the bride and groom garlanding each other with their own hands but this did not happen here. Here, when lover Pradeep garlanded his girlfriend with his feet, the people present at Shyama Temple blessed the bride and groom. The bride and groom told that they are getting married as per their own wish.
The love affair was going on for the last eight years
Groom Pradeep Mandal told that his new wife is none other than his elder brother’s sister-in-law. He was in love with Rita for the last eight years. But neither our family members nor Rita’s family were ready to take our love to marriage, hence both of us ran away from our homes and got married in Shyama Mai temple of our own free will. If our family members still do not agree, then both of us will live in Darbhanga. Despite being handicapped with both hands, Pradeep has completed his education till graduation. Despite not having both hands, he knows how to operate a computer with his feet.
Lost both hands due to high tension wire
Family members say that Pradeep is the youngest among his three siblings. He told that electricity had come to his village Deuri in the year 2008. At that time he was playing outside his house. During this time, both his hands were burnt when a 33000 volt electric wire broke and fell. A lot of treatment was done but ultimately both hands had to be amputated.
