Along with other symptoms like jaundice, loss of appetite and weight loss without any reason, dark urine can also be a symptom of liver cancer. However, liver cancer often does not cause any symptoms in its early days.
In jaundice, the skin and white parts of the eyes start turning yellow. This may be due to blockage in the bile duct or liver damage. People with jaundice may also have dark urine and light stools, and may feel itchy or sick.
Some medications can change the color of your urine. Amitriptyline, a depression medication, can cause greenish-blue urine. Cimetidine (Tagamet HB), an ulcer and acid reflux treatment, can cause greenish-blue urine.
Triamterene (Dyrenium), a water pill, can cause greenish-blue urine. Indomethacin (Indocin, Tivorbex), a pain and arthritis medicine, can cause greenish urine.
Propofol (Diprivan), a drug that helps people relax before surgery, can cause green urine. Senna and phenazopyridine, laxatives, can cause red-orange urine.
Feeling very weak or tired all the time is also a sign of liver cancer. Doctors say that as the disease gradually progresses, things like flatulence and watery feeling in the stomach are also felt, which are symptoms of liver cancer.
