Deaths due to air pollution how many deaths occurred in the country due to air pollution government gave this answer

Air pollution is becoming a big problem for a country like India. Due to this, respiratory diseases are spreading rapidly among humans. But is air pollution also causing human deaths in India? Let’s know what the government has to say on this.

Read the Lancet Planetary Health report first

A few weeks ago, a report was published in Lancet Planetary Health. This report claimed that air pollution is the cause of about 33,000 deaths every year in 10 cities of India. This report said that India’s clean air norms are currently well above the WHO guidelines of 15 micrograms in every cubic meter of air. Apart from this, this report also emphasized that to protect people from the danger of polluted air, India needs to change its clean air norms at least according to the guidelines of the World Health Organization. However, the Indian government does not consider these figures to be correct.

What did the Indian government say

On the basis of this report published in Lancet Planetary Health, when the government was asked a related question in Parliament, Union Minister of State (Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change) Kirti Vardhan Singh replied that there is no data available that directly links these deaths to air pollution. In this reply, it was said that apart from air pollution, there can be many other reasons which are responsible for these deaths.

cities with toxic air

Ahmedabad is at number one among the top 10 cities of India with poisonous air. Bengaluru is at number two, Chennai at number three and Delhi at number four. After this, Greater Mumbai is at number six. Hyderabad is at number six and Kolkata at number seven. While Pune is at number eight and Shimla at number nine. At the same time, Varanasi, a city of Uttar Pradesh, is at number ten.

According to a report published in Lancet Planetary Health, if you live in these cities and do not adopt the measures suggested to avoid air pollution, then you can become a victim of a serious disease. Experts believe that if you live in these cities, then try to use a mask whenever you go out of the house. At the same time, if you can install an air purifier inside the house, then it is even better.
