Deepak wanted to become a hero from the beginning
Deepak, who hails from a small village in Uttarakhand, wanted to become an actor from the beginning. Deepak’s family came to Delhi when he was very young. From here Deepak studied 12th and then he decided to become a diamond in films. Although his family wanted Deepak to do a government job. But to fulfill his dream, Deepak had reached Mumbai.

Actually, one of his friends lured him with chow mein and convinced him to audition for Irrfan Khan’s film Maqbool, Deepak auditioned for the film and was successful in the audition. Finally Deepak got his first role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Omkara’.

In the next few years, Deepak established himself as a supporting actor in films like ‘Shaurya’ and ‘Delhi-6’. After this, the 2011 hit ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ proved to be a milestone in Deepak’s career. R Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut played lead roles in this film. Whereas Deepak got a supporting role in the film. However, Deepak’s comic timing, dialogue delivery and brilliant performance in the film made him the audience’s favourite. Many critics even said that he was overshadowed by Madhavan in some scenes.
