The exercise to bring back the valuable idols stolen from the country from America has intensified. These include 2100 years old idols. It has many types of idols including Yakshini, Lord Vishnu-Lakshmi, Kuber, Surya God’s statue, Lord Ganesha dancing.

More than 100 priceless sculptures included in the cultural heritage will return to the country. This is said to be the biggest consignment of cultural heritage to come back in the history so far. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is in touch with the US agency. In view of the G-20 summit meeting, it is expected that they will be brought to the country within a month. The guests coming from abroad will be introduced to the ancient Indian culture through them.

These priceless idols stolen from different states of the country will be saved. Some of these idols are religious as well as non-religious. In this mainly terracotta statue of Yakshini of 2nd-1st century BC, terracotta statue of Lord Vishnu-Lakshmi and Garuda of 11th century, terracotta statue of Kuber of 8th-9th century, 11-12th century Many sculptures including the idol of the Sun God, the idol of Lord Ganesha made of red stone of the 9th century and the statue of Nandi are included. Also included are three idols stolen from temples in Tamil Nadu. These include pre-Chola period stone sculptures. These idols belong to 12th-13th century. It houses religious sculptures, oriental objects made of bronze and terracotta. These precious idols were secretly sent out.

Identification of ASI team

A senior ASI official said that these idols have been scrutinised. A team of ASI also went to America to investigate them. In this, by identifying these idols, their period has also been traced. He told that these idols were stolen from many states including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. At the same time, another senior official said that these idols are expected to arrive in our country within the next one month. All necessary procedures are underway to bring them back. These sculptures are currently kept in different museums there.

Heritage will be saved

In view of the G-20 summit in the month of September, these idols will be shown as an exhibition in different places. By saving these idols, the heritage will be shown to foreign guests from the heritage. At the same time, school-college students will also be shown them as heritage. In nine years, more than 200 stolen idols have been brought to the country from abroad.
